Old churches, towering cathedrals, medieval German castles, ruins of Roman forts, Germanic historical figures, scenes along the river and in towns and forests, I have included all of the large illustrations and many of the smaller ones from this great antiquarian book. These drawings are very nicely done and are representative of the “Three Vassar Girls” series, of which this is number 5, published in the late 19th century. The books are equally valuable both for the drawing and for the rambling observations on life, culture, history, and the general joys of traveling with college chums.
